Town of Springville

Chairman Theisen called the meeting of the Town Board to order at 6:00 pm. All were present.
Open Meeting Compliance. The meeting agenda was posted on the Town of Springville’s announcement board and the Town of Springville website.
Approve Agenda. Motion made by Poehler to amend agenda to add Fire District Budget to agenda. Second by VanBeek. All were in favor. M/C, by voice vote.
Motion to approve agenda with changes by VanBeek. Second by Poehler. All were in favor. M/C, by voice vote.
Minutes.VanBeek made a motion, seconded by Theisen, to approve the July 22, 2024 minutes. All were in favor. M/C, by voice vote.
Financial Report. The financial report of income/expense budgetary was provided and reviewed by the Town Board for the date ending 07.31.2024. Ending balances: General Account $35,716.37; Road Account $88,14576; and Contingency Account $137,477.76.
Public Comment:
Unfinished Business. Informed Ty Telow that the petition for direct legislation does not apply to Towns
New Business:
a. Motion by Poehler to approve Resolution of Town Board Proposing to Exceed Levy Limit 0826204-01. Second by VanBeek. All were in favor. M/C, by voice vote.
b. Plan Commission recommended to deny request of Jeffrey & Michelle Shepherd Zoning Request
c. Motion by Poehler to deny 2025 Fire District Budget. Second by VanBeek. All were in favor. M/C, by voice vote.
Town Department Reports:
Town Road Update: Replaced and Repaired Road Signs, south end of Township is done
Fire District Update: 100thAnniversary Parade & Event in Adams to end at Fairgrounds
Ambulance Update: Contract beginning 1/1/25 is signed
Planning and Zoning Update: Nothing out of the ordinary.
County Board Update: Building Committee of phase 2 to separate county offices and Sheriff’s department. Wage study was done and coast between $50,000.00 and $60,000.000 and will cost about $750,000.00 more to implement. County taxes will go up because $4,000,000.00 that was given to Solid Waste did not pass to go to bonding, which means County loses out on repayment of said amount.
Disbursements.The motion was made by Poehler, with a second by VanBeek to to approve disbursements 1- 29 for August 2024. All were in favor. M/C, by voice vote.
Set the next meeting date. The next monthly meeting will be Monday, September23, 2024, at 6:00 pm.
Adjournment. The meeting was adjourned.
